Acrylic in commercial settings

The acrylic/elastomeric applied to tin roofing restoration projects–by us–is exactly the same formulation used by NASA to protect the metal parts of their engines. The material cures to a tough finish with extreme elasticity to move with the metal during the changes in temperatures.

Acrylics have been used in the commercial field since the 1970s. In the 1990s, several private manufacturers tinted the formulation and encouraged its use in the residential field. This Old House TV show was one of its first exhibitors of the acrylics/elastomerics
